Posted by Bill Morris, Created 3 days ago, Updated 3 days ago Nova Challenge - Sunday, March 18

This year's Nova Challenge on Sunday, March 18 at Centreville High School.  Admission is $10 and this year's charity is Best Buddies, which supports students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To date, we have raised over $8,000 for local charities in the four years of the event and hope to go over the $10,000 mark this year!

This high school basketball event showcases the top boys basketball public school seniors from Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, and Prince William in two all-star games.  Festivities begin at 2 pm as the Arlington/Alexandria team tips off against an all-star team from Fairfax County.  The three point and dunk contests follow at 4 pm, and the nightcap at 5 pm features Loudoun County vs. Prince William County.

Former SoLo/MLBL stars, and graduating Freedom HS seniors Jeremy Cofield, Zyan Collins and Hunter Oakford will be playing for the Loudoun team, and Freedom's Coach Justin Powers is leading the team from Loudoun County!

Come and join the festivities for a chance to see the area's top high school boys basketball players and raise money for a great charity!

We are set to kick off the Spring SoLo Travel program tomorrow.  Here are a couple of reminders:

- All players should bring a basketball to both the training nights and the practice nights.  Please be sure to clearly label your basketball!   Do Not bring your basketball to the Friday Open Gyms.

- You should have an invite to Teamopolis to join your grade-level team, which has the schedules.  To see the weekly schedule, log on to, click on the grade level (on the right side) and select "schedules" to view that grade level's schedule.

  • The schedules will show training on Mondays and Tuesdays - players should attend 1 of the 2 nights each week. They do not need to be the same nights week to week.
  • The schedules will show practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays - players should attend 1 of the 2 nights each week.  They do not need to be the same night week to week.
  • Friday open gyms are open to all participants - check Teamopolis for schedules.

Coaches will follow up with players on schedules for tournaments.
